INVITATION

The Global Academic Network welcomes you to Los Angeles, the most populous city in the U.S. state of California and the second-most populous in the United States, after New York, with a population of 3,8 million.Nicknamed the City of Angels, Los Angeles is a global city, with strengths in business, international trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, sports, technology, education, medicine and research and has been ranked 6th in the Global Cities Index and 9th in the Global Economic Power Index. The city is home to renowned institutions covering a broad range of professional and cultural fields and is one of the most substantial economic engines within the United States. Los Angeles includes Hollywood and leads the world in the creation of television productions, video games, and recorded music; it is also one of the leaders in motion picture production. Los Angeles is inhabited by people from more than 140 countries speaking 224 different identified languages. Ethnic enclaves like Chinatown, Historic Filipinotown, Koreatown, Little Armenia, Little Ethiopia, Tehrangeles, Little Tokyo, and Thai Town provide examples of the polyglot character of the city.

The GAN Scientific Committee welcomes presentations in any of the following fields of academic investigation:

- Humanities and Social Sciences,

- Education,

- Business and Economics,

- Technology and Science.

Possible formats of presentation are the following:

Paper sessions will consist of three to four presentations in a 90-minute session. The session will be divided equally between the presenters.

Poster sessions will last 90 minutes and involve a group of presenters. Poster sessions allow attendees to speak with the presenters on a one-to-one basis.

Equipment that will be provided by the conference and setup in all presentation rooms: (excluding poster sessions):

  • Laptop Computer ***
  • LCD Data Projector (with screen)

*** The laptops will accept CD-ROMs, DVD’s, and USB “Flash” drives. Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel are installed on each laptop for your convenience. We will not be able to install any special software that your presentation may require. However, if you bring your own laptop, you may use it instead of the one that is provided. Please note that the Internet access is NOT provided in any of the presentation rooms.

The accepted proposals will be organized according to the scope of investigation and topic. The conference programme will be available a month before the event and will include a series of one-hour sessions consisting of 20-minute slots (10 minutes for a presentation and 10 minutes for questions and a discussion). Authors may also deliever a workshop, or participate in a poster session. Guests can attend a conference without giving a presentation as well. Our sessions will commence at 10:00 am and run until 6:00 pm.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Make your submission now by following these two easy steps:

1. Your submission must include:

  • a title (use proper capitalization)
  • an area of the submission (choose an area from the list)
  • a presentation format (choose one: Paper Session or Poster Session)
  • a proposal author
  • a short abstract (in Microsoft Word):

For each author, list the following:

  • Full name
  • Department/Division
  • University/Company/Organization
  • Email address (all acceptance/rejection letters are sent via email, so it is very important to have a correct email address for each author)

2. Email your abstract and/or paper, along with the above described title page, to enquiries@global-conferences.eu  Receipt of submissions will be acknowledged via email within 3 days.

Within two weeks of receiving your online abstract submission, we will notify you of the reviewers’ acceptance or rejection, for the conference.

If we inform you that it is an acceptance and you would like to publish your research, use the APA stylesheet and email us your formatted abstract or full manuscript in Microsoft Word.

Abstracts and summarized articles will be published in the proceedings entitled Conference Proceedings of the Global Academic Network, in electronic format.

Full length manuscripts may be published in Conference Proceedings of the Global Academic Network or any of the refereed journals electronically available through our publishing consortium.

Each registered author, irrespective of whether he or she submits a formatted manuscript for publication, will receive a Certificate of Participation at the conference.

CULTURAL PROGRAMME

Bus Tour of Los Angeles (Thursday, 19th March)

We’ll see the famous sights of Hollywood and Los Angeles on this comprehensive sightseeing tour. We’ll have a chance to look at the footprints and handprints of our favorite movie stars at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, take photos of the iconic Hollywood sign and enjoy a delicious lunch at the LA Farmers Market. The major highlights of Los Angeles such as Olvera Street – the birthplace of Los Angeles, the legendary Hollywood Boulevard, the beautiful Sunset Strip and the glamorous Rodeo Drive will be covered as well. We’ll visit the famous Venice Beach and stop in Chinatown and all the other well-known sites seen countless times on TV and in the movies!

REGISTRATION PAYMENT

Registration is open to everyone, not just to delegates. The registration fee does not include any subsistence costs (accomodation and/or food).

  • Admission to sessions
  • A printed copy of the conference program
  • A Certificate of Participation
  • A CD-Rom copy of the conference proceedings
  • Morning and afternoon coffee break

Valid for one person for paper sessions and it includes the tour.
300 USD – Los Angeles Conference Registration:
Valid for one person for paper sessions only. The tour is not included.
700 USD – Los Angeles Conference Registration:
Valid for two guests (a co-author, spouse, or  a partner, etc.) for all conference events, or two proposals by the same author. It includes the tour.

REGULAR RATES (payment after 1st February 2015)

500 USD – Los Angeles Conference Registration:
Valid for one person for paper sessions and it includes the tour.
400 USD – Los Angeles Conference Registration:
Valid for one person for paper sessions only. The tour is not included.
900 USD – Los Angeles Conference Registration:
Valid for two guests (a co-author, spouse, or  a partner, etc.) for all conference events, or two proposals by the same author. It includes the tour.

CANCELLATION POLICY

In cases of resignation / cancellation of a speaker’s attendance in a GAN conference, a penalty charge indicated below will apply:

- cancellation between 90 days through to 60 days – 200 USD

- cancellation between 59 days through to 30 days – 300 USD

- cancellation between 29 days through to the date of arrival – the total amount paid

All penalty charges are based on a single person’s attendance. If a participant has bought a ticket valid for two attendees, the charges are doubled.
