INVITATION

The Global Academic Network welcomes you to Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates, located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf. It has the largest population in the UAE (over 2 million) after Abu Dhabi, the national capital. Today, Dubai has emerged as a cosmopolitan metropolis that has grown steadily to become a global city and a business and cultural hub of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region. Although Dubai’s economy was historically built on the oil industry, the emirate’s model of business drives its economy with the main revenues now coming from tourism, aviation, real estate, and financial services.Dubai has recently attracted world attention through many innovative large construction projects and sports events. The city has become symbolic for its skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, such as the world’s tallest Burj Khalifa, in addition to ambitious development projects including man-made islands, hotels, and some of the largest shopping malls in the region and the world.

The GAN Scientific Committee welcomes presentations in any of the following fields of academic investigation:

- Humanities and Social Sciences,

- Education,

- Business and Economics,

- Technology and Science.

Possible formats of presentation are the following:

Paper sessions will consist of three to four presentations in a 90-minute session. The session will be divided equally between the presenters.

Workshop presenters will be given the full 60-minute session.

Poster sessions will last 90 minutes and involve a large group of presenters. Poster sessions allow attendees to speak with the presenters on a one-to-one basis.

Equipment that will be provided by the conference and setup in all presentation rooms: (excluding poster sessions):

  • Laptop Computer ***
  • LCD Data Projector (with screen)

*** The laptops will accept CD-ROMs, DVD’s, and USB “Flash” drives. Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel are installed on each laptop for your convenience. We will not be able to install any special software that your presentation may require. However, if you bring your own laptop, you may use it instead of the one that is provided. Please note that Internet access is NOT provided in any of the presentation rooms.

The accepted proposals will be organized according to the scope of investigation and topic. The conference programme will be available a month before the event and will include a series of one-hour sessions consisting of 20-minute slots (10 minutes for a presentation and 10 minutes for questions and a discussion). Authors may also deliever a workshop, or participate in a poster session. Guests can attend a conference without giving a presentation as well. Our sessions will commence at 10:00 am and run until 6:00 pm.

Our event is organized in cooperation with the Herriot-Watt University and will be held at the Mercure Gold Hotel in Dubai.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Make your submission now by following these two easy steps:

1. Create a detailed title page for your submission. It must include:

a)     title of the submission (use proper capitalization)

b)    area of the submission (choose an area from the list)

c)     presentation format (choose one: Paper Session, Workshop, or Poster Session)

d)    proposal author(s):

For each author, list the following:

  • Full name
  • Department/Division
  • University/Company/Organization
  • Email address (all acceptance/rejection letters are sent via email, so it is very important to have a correct email address for each author)

2. Email your abstract and/or paper, along with the above described title page, to enquiries@global-conferences.eu  Receipt of submissions will be acknowledged via email within 48 hours. There is a limit of two contributed submissions per lead author.

Within two weeks of receiving your online abstract submission, we will notify you of the reviewers’ acceptance or rejection, for the conference.

If we inform you that it is an acceptance and you would like to publish your research, use the APA stylesheet and email us your formatted abstract or full manuscript in Microsoft Word.

Abstracts and summarized articles will be published in the proceedings entitled Conference Proceedings of the Global Academic Network, in electronic format.

Full length manuscripts may be published in Conference Proceedings of the Global Academic Network or any of the refereed journals electronically available through our publishing consortium.

Each registered author, irrespective of whether he or she submits a formatted manuscript for publication, will receive a Certificate of Participation at the conference.

CULTURAL PROGRAMME

Dubai Bus Tour (Wednesday, 12th February)

Our Tour is carefully designed to take you to all of Dubai’s famous landmarks, from the world famous Atlantis resort to the traditional spice souk. It will explain the history of Dubai while connecting the City’s many visitor attractions. The stops will include: The Burj Al Arab (Dubai’s most iconic landmark), Jumeirah Mosque, Al Fahidi Fort & Dubai Museum, The Gold Souk, The Burj Khalifa, Dubai’s Spice Souk, Jumeirah Park & Public Beach, Atlantis on the Palm, Dubai Creek, Emirates Towers.

Jeep Desert Safari (Saturday, 16th February)

Our Desert Safari is a unique adventure of its kind. We will be driven to the desert where after a fresh up the drivers will reduce air in their Jeep wheels and take us to the depths of sand where we will experience thrilling drive in the fine sands of Arabia, known as dune bashing. Our experienced drivers will drive us up the dunes and dive down in a very artistic way giving us the real feel of the desert sand. The drive is more like a roller-coaster driving in the sandy hills as if skating in the sand. At unset time we will bring you to a nice spot for a picture of sunset in the desert and then to a desert camp where we will enjoy a BBQ dinner followed by a entertaining belly dance.

Registration is open to everyone, not just to delegates. The registration fee does not include any subsistence costs (accomodation and food).

CANCELLATION POLICY

In cases of resignation / cancellation of a speaker’s attendance in a GAN conference, a penalty charge indicated below will apply:

- cancellation between 90 days through to 60 days – 100 USD

- cancellation between 59 days through to 30 days – 200 USD

- cancellation between 29 days through to the date of arrival – the total amount paid

All penalty charges are based on a single person’s attendance. If a participant has bought a ticket valid for two attendees, the charges are doubled.
